Repair shop boss was pawning customer’s cars

A car repair shop owner in Saraburi Province has gone on the run after apparently pawning customer’s car for cash.

Police have been able to retrieve 11 cars and employees at the shop have claimed the owner recently appeared to be quite well-off financially.

Khaosod News reported on 8 September 2021 that many victims had filed police reports providing evidence including registration papers to prove ownership.

Saraburi City Police investigation shows Bunnam, the owner of the car repair shop, has pawned the cars in three separate districts in Saraburi Province.

Jakkapan 33 year old, stated he is one of the lucky customers because his vehicle is still safe. He took his car to the shop for a paint repair and had left it there for three months.

The owner had asked him for a 10,000 THB deposit and failed to complete the work

Although he has his car back now he claims the shop owner still has his money. Other victims had paid over 90,000 THB in advance for paint work that has never been completed.

Another victim claims she took her truck in for repairs and the vehicle has now been pawned by the owner.

However, police recovered the truck after finding it abandoned in a local field (see picture above)

Employees have told police that Bunnam has gone into hiding and they have no idea where he is.

Some of them claim they are also looking for him as they have not been paid.
