BANKS CLOSE DOWN AFTER NEW COVID-19 SCARE.

Some branches of Bangkok Bank (BBL) and Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) were closed following the latest Covid-19 clusters in Bangkok areas, the banks said Thursday.

Bangkok Bank announced that one of its employees of the Japanese business unit on the third floor of Silom headquarters building was reportedly infected with Covid-19 on Tuesday.

The employee had no contact with the customer services department on the first and second floors, the bank said.

The bank has temporarily closed the headquarters’ third floor to sanitize the area and instructed other employees in close contact with the infected person to get tested and self-quarantine at home.

According to the Facebook page, additional branches in Bangkok and other provinces are closed until further notice, as follows:

In Bangkok  – Tha Tien 2, India Emporium, Yodpiman Riverwalk, Khao San Road, Indra Square, Oriental 2, G Tower, Metro West Town (Kanlapaphruek), and National Institute of Development Administration.

In Nonthaburi – BigC Tivanon.

In Pathum Thani – Thailand Science Park 2, Rangsit University.

In Phuket – Phuket International Airport

In Surat Thani – Lamai Beach.

Siam Commercial Bank

The SCB headquarters in Ratchayothin was also temporarily closed after an employee was reportedly infected with Covid-19.

It will close until April 30, according to an SCB statement, and instructed all employees normally working in the building to work from home from now on.

Other branches in Bangkok to be closed are the Grand Palace and Suan Chitlada. – Thai Enquirer
