New victims of an online scam are warning folk to avoid what has become known as the ‘BUY’ initiative in Pattaya.
It is thought than hundreds of people have lost millions of baht after investing in an online scheme promising to return high profits.
One 25-year-old Thai lady, Jiraporn, has reported to police that she should have made ‘plenty of money’ after believing claims that the ‘more she invested the more she would make.’
However, she now says she has lost everything after handing over all her money, only for the ‘investment firm’ to disappear.
Another, known as Kritkhacha, also believed the online hype and claimed that many foreigners are among the victims.
It is estimated, so far, that over 400 people have lost millions of baht in the dishonest ‘BUY’ scheme.
