Elderly German man dies in Pattaya motorbike crash

An elderly German man tragically died in a motorbike crash in Pattaya yesterday. Police and rescuers arrived at the scene on Soi 14 in the Naklua sub-district of Bang Lamung district.

They found the man, 81 year old Hans Werner Schreiner, dead in a pool of blood on the road.

Schreiner was lying upward, and suffered critical head injuries. Police found cash, a smartphone, personal documents, and an atm card in his pocket.

The Pattaya News reported that Schreiner crashed his motorbike while navigating a curve.

Schreiner’s red Yamaha Nouvo motorbike rammed and got stuck in a metal wall. Pattaya Police said they reviewed CCTV footage around the area and did not find any other parties involved in the fatal crash.

However, none of the footage captured the exact moment when the victim crashed into a wall, the police stated.

Initially, it was presumed that the victim may have been driving at high speed and was unfamiliar with the road, according to the police. The road was also very narrow and had an S curve, which may have caused the victim to lose control of his vehicle.

Police are continuing to review CCTV footage to determine the exact cause of the collision.

This news comes just one week after another fatal road accident in the Bang Lamung district. On February 9, a Pattaya woman was crushed to death by a pickup truck in a tragic accident after being hit head-on when walking around her car.

The woman pulled over her car beside the road in front of Lotus Express in the Nongprue sub-district. Then, CCTV footage at the front of the store showed 47 year old Bussara Pinijmontri Dawarker exiting her car and walking around her vehicle.

A white pickup truck then suddenly emerged and crashed head-on into Bussara and ran her over. – The Thaiger
