BREAKING: Myanmar mine collapse – 62 dead, 200 buried

At least 63 people killed, and hundreds missing following Jade mine's collapse

AT least 62 people have been killed and 200 are trapped after a jade mine collapsed in Hpakant, in Myanmar, this morning.

Local media reported the collapse took place at around 6.30am local Hpakant time.

The miners were said to be collecting stones when a “muddy wave” suddenly buried them.

This was reportedly caused by heavy rain the fire service said in a Facebook post.

Search and rescue operation are still underway.

CGTN tweeted: “A jade mine in Hpakant, #Myanmar, collapsed at around 6.30am local time on Thursday.

“Witness said 33 people died, and 200 others are still buried.”
