Alcohol now BANNED in Chonburi between 8pm-4am

No stocking up is allowed.... - COVID-1984

The Chonburi governor has been throwing his weight around again and this time decided to ban both buying AND drinking alcohol between the hours of 8pm and 4am each day.

The governor, it seems, is still insisting there is a link between having a beer and dying from a flu-like virus with a 99.6% survival rate.

If ever proof were needed that Thailand’s response to the COVID outbreaks have nothing to do with anybody’s health and welfare, then this is it.

The order simply reads;

No alcohol sales anywhere from 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM. This includes convenience stores and supermarkets.

No drinking in groups between 8:00 PM and 4:00 AM.

In this case the word ‘group’ has not been defined and could mean anything. Perhaps sitting alone is thought to be a group by the governor, who knows.

He also does not say anything about where these new bans are effective. It could be that sitting alone inside your own home is now against his pointless rules.

The governor’s PR department have insisted that the order is made to protect everybody’s health and to stop the spread of Covid-19.

The order is effective from TODAY (July 3) and will be supported by ‘extremely large fines’ and possible jail sentences for miscreants.

Although this report appears to be an April Fool’s joke, or an extract from George Orwell’s Animal Farm, it is in fact, sadly, true.

Yes, authorities really are this stupid in Thailand.
