Pattaya visa agent is arrested for FRAUD

A Thai man was arrested in Chiang Mai this week who was allegedly involved in running a visa scam in Pattaya that had many foreign victims.

A team from the Tourist Police Station 4 Command Center led by Lieutenant Colonel Somboon Euasamanmaitree arrested Mr. Pakin Patanakitarphon, 52, in Chiang Mai this week.

The move came after the Pattaya Provincial Court issued an arrest warrant on May 18th for the suspect over alleged fraud.

Officers were originally notified of the alleged fraud from a Japanese national who lived in Lampang, Northern Thailand.

The suspect was named by Pattaya Tourist Police as the owner of The Dragon Visa Service company on Third Road, Pattaya.

The suspect reportedly took 45,000 baht from the Japanese victim for a visa service and then disappeared with the cash.

Pattaya Tourist Police later revealed there were at least ten more foreign victims who were reportedly defrauded for an estimated hundreds of thousands of baht.

The Pattaya Tourist Police later contacted other local foreign residents who might have been defrauded by the same visa agent.

They are continuing to investigate this alleged visa scam and asking any potential victims to come forward and file a report with the Pattaya Tourist Police. – Pattaya News
