Hopes of Chiang Mai recovery now IN TATTERS

The chief of the Tourism Council of Thailand in Chiang Mai has once again demonstrated why he should not be the Chief of Tourism.

In fact, he should be nowhere near tourism, tourists, cameras, microphones, reporters or anything connected with public confidence or health and safety issues.

Chairat Trairattanajaratporn told Sanook this week that the COVID infected Thai woman who returned from Myanmar and who was allowed to ‘wander around Chiang Mai’ without quarantine was ‘terrible news, another HAMMER BLOW’ and ‘should never have been allowed to happen.’

He went on to blabber that the private sector was ‘playing ball’ but cases like this were severely affecting the chances of Thailand opening up again for tourism.

He rounded off what should be grounds for dismissal by complaining that ‘any hopes of a rise in tourism at the end of the year were now in tatters and that he expects mass cancellations throughout the city riddled with COVID-19.

Remember – this is all about a flu virus with a 99.4% survival rate, which is higher than just about any other illness, virus or infection.

The good people of Chiang Mai must be asking themselves, ‘who needs cheer-leaders like this?’
