A teacher and her husband spent half an hour up a bamboo tree to escape a wild tiger they encountered in Thung Yai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary in Kanchanaburi.
The unidentified female teacher, of ethnic Karen origin, posted a half-hour video clip of the ordeal on her Facebook page Book Za Sookzun on Saturday.
It shows the couple clinging to a tall bamboo tree while a tiger waits patiently below, sauntering around and at times lying down.
They came across the tiger on a trail from the main office of the sanctuary to Ban Jakae.
The trail is closed to the public and used only by park rangers and local villagers — along with wild animals, including tigers.
About half-way through the clip, the man climbs down, sits on his motorcycle and nonchalantly eats sticky rice while gazing at the nearby tiger.
The incident took place near the campsite where construction tycoon Premchai Karnasuta and three others were arrested for allegedly poaching wildlife, including a black leopard, in February last year. – Bangkok Post
