A Russian tourist told police that she had been drinking heavily with her husband at a hotel on Lamai beach last night.
She decided to go to bed and leave him to it. But he didn’t return to their room.
Then next thing she knew a member of staff had alerted her that a corpse had been found 100 meters further down the beach in the early hours of the morning.
She went and uncovered the cloth and found that it was her husband.
He was named as Denis Masanov, aged 50. He was found naked with blood coming from his nose and mouth.
Koh Samui district chief Kittiphop Rotdon and the Bo Phut police chief were on the beach before most tourists had risen on Wednesday morning.
The victim’s wife said that her husband was a heavy drinker suffering from many diseases. She thinks he must have gone for a swim after she left him.
The body was sent for an autopsy. – Naewna
