Police are looking for a Russian couple who found the body of a foreigner floating near a beach in Hua Hin and then pulled it ashore to seek further details.

At 11.45am on Tuesday, police were told that the body of the man, of unknown nationality and believed to have drowned, was lying on Hua Don beach near the ferry pier in Hua Hin district.

Wearing blue swimming trunks, a sports watch and a gold ring engraved with the word “joy’’ on the little finger of his left hand, the unidentified man was believed to have died at least 2-3 hours earlier, police said.

Hua Hin police chief  Pol Col Thanakorn Wongsirilak, tourist police officers, a doctor at Hua Hin Hospital and rescue workers went to inspect the body. They found no bruising.

Local residents told police that a Russian couple were swimming off the beach on Tuesday morning when they spotted a man floating near rocks along the wave barriers near the ferry pier.

The couple swam over to check on the man, and found he was dead. They then pulled his body to the shore and asked people to alert police.

Police investigators were looking for the two Russian tourists to seek further details from them.

No identification documents were found, and nobody has yet filed a missing person report with police.

The body was sent for a post-mortem examination. – Bangkok Post
