Some Thai towns can now sell booze again

Thailand’s COVID Clown Show have announced that restaurants in four tourism provinces will be allowed to serve alcoholic drinks again from Monday.

The meeting, led by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, decided that diners in Phuket, Krabi, Phang Nga and Bangkok can enjoy an alcoholic drink with their meals from November 1.

However, each provincial governor is in charge of specifying the zones where booze can be served.

It was not immediately clear, as nothing ever has been, if this applied to bars which have either been shuttered for months or resorted to selling illicitly.

It was not addressed specifically by the task force. A slide used during the press briefing only used the word “restaurants.”

The tourism authority today announced that bars, pubs and nightlife venues would remain closed.

A new color was introduced to the system used to rank the pandemic situation in each province. Four of what had been “dark red” for having the worst outbreaks – Bangkok, Krabi, Phang-nga, and Phuket – are now a much friendlier and inviting “blue.”

Blue is to be used for pilot tourism destinations.

People will also be able to get together with 499 of their good friends again – gatherings of over 500 remain banned.

Because the Thai government still thinks that most of you believe the virus knows the difference.
