Experts from the United States and the United Kingdom became the latest rescuers to join in the mission to locate 12 teenage boys and their soccer coach, who have been trapped inside a flooded cave in Chiang Rai, northern Thailand since last Saturday.
According to Interior Minister Gen Anupong Paojinda, the three cave experts from the UK arrived at the scene this evening along with a team from the US and their specialised equipments.
“I am confident that they are still alive,” said the minister today, but conceded that rising water inside the cave due to current wet spell has proved to be a major obstacle to the rescue teams, which included divers from the elite Navy SEALS unit.
Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has also expressed his confidence that the missing boys and their coach will emerge safely from the ordeal.
Anupong said, X-ray equipment and drilling machines have also been deployed to the site to assist in the search and rescue operations.
