Australian construction worker, 39, says he had a ‘drunken argument’ with his Thai girlfriend, 28, before she plunged to her death from a fifth-floor balcony in seedy sex capital
An Australian man who was arrested after his Thai girlfriend plunged to her death from her high-rise apartment has said the couple had a minor, drunken argument’ prior to her death.
The man, identified as Travis Crow, was taken into custody after Wilawal Poolsukserm, 28, fell from a building in Pattaya, Thailand, on Monday.
He was seen sitting next to Ms Poolsukserm on the road and holding her hand while paramedics desperately tried to revive her.
Ms Poolsukserm fell from the fourth floor balcony of Mint Mansion in Tambon Nong Plue, Bang Lamung district at 2.30am.
She died while being taken to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital, The Nation reported.
It is understood Mr Crow and Ms Poolsukserm had been dating for two years and were out drinking in local bars on the night of her death, The Australian reported.
The pair returned to their room at the Mint Mansion apartment block on the fourth floor around 1:30am.
Mr Crow told investigating officer Jiraya Thongchoy in Pattaya that they began having a minor, drunken argument before he went to have a shower.
Upon emerging from the bathroom, he saw his girlfriend on the balcony, he claims, and when he said she should come in, she jumped.
Mr Crow told the Australian the argument ‘was nothing more serious than what other couples have’ and that he was devastated.
‘I’ve just come back to the room where I lost my girl. I’m here on holiday but come here quite often to see my girlfriend,’ he said.
A witness said he saw the young woman and heard the loud bang as she hit the ground in Pattaya, two hours east of Bangkok.
Mr Crow was arrested and questioned after Ms Poolsukserm fell to her death as police work to determine whether her death was suicide.
