Knife attack on kindergarten teacher at Pattaya school

Sanook have reported that a Thai man believed to be local entered a Bang Lamung school on Wednesday, pulled a knife and robbed a kindergarten teacher.

She fought back and was seriously hurt.

Police say they know the identity of the man, are getting a warrant and an arrest is imminent.

The attack happened around 5 pm at Ban Bang Lamung School after most students and teachers had gone home.


Patrang, 34, A Year 6 (P6) homeroom teacher told Sanook that a 35-40 year old man came in the school claiming to be a parent.

He headed for the kindergarten area where teacher Ms Rungthiwa, 39, was working alone.

The man pulled a knife on her but she fought back before he stole a bag containing 5,600 baht and various documents.

The school reported the matter to Bang Lamung police who despite saying they knew the man had not made an arrest by yesterday prompting concerned teachers to contact the media to hurry things along.

Pol Lt Col Apichanan Watanawarangkul of the Bang Lamung force said they know the identity of the man who is local. They were in the process of getting a warrant and said an arrest was expected imminently. – Sanook
