Search underway in Thailand for Brit after concerns over Facebook video

A search is underway in Thailand for Norwich man Steven Rickett after concerns for his safety have been raised by a video he posted online.

The video has been shared widely on Facebook after being posted by Steven, and has caused concern among friends, family and the authorities.

Norfolk Police are appealing for anyone who has contact with Steven to contact them urgently, and they are liaising with the authorities in Thailand.

A spokesperson for Norfolk Police said: “Police were called on Monday, June 4 following concerns for the welfare of 36-year-old Steven Rickett from Norwich who is currently visiting Thailand.

Rickett followed this up at 10.40am on 6th June with a cryptic comment that has further alarmed those looking for him.

“Officers are aware of a video posted on social media by Steven which prompted concerns for his safety. We have liaised with the National Crime Agency and authorities in Thailand are aware and trying to establish his whereabouts.

“Anyone who hears from Steven is asked to contact Norfolk Police on 101 immediately.”
