A lightning bolt killed a woman aged around 50-years-old in Pattaya yesterday when she was out foraging for shellfish near Naklua beach.
The thunderbolt, which came during a short storm, killed the woman instantly at Pak Klong Chai in Na Klua near Pattaya.
The area is popular for both tourists and locals to collect shells when the tide is out and the woman was reportedly around 600 meters offshore when lightening struck.
The victim, dressed all in black, was found with burns to her head and body and had blood coming from her nose and mouth.
Attempts to revive her by Sawang Boriboon medics were to no avail and the victim was pronounced dead at Bang Lamung Hospital.
Witnesses said they saw a lightning bolt before rushing to call rescue services. – Sophon Cable
