A pair of British tourists recently caused a commotion in Cambodia after failing to locate a certain ‘ladyboy’ who they tried to find with the help of a tuk-tuk driver.
The unnamed duo reportedly rode around Phnom Penh in a local rickshaw trying to find a transsexual prostitute on Wednesday, reports the Daily Mail.
‘I’m sorry. I just wanted to see a ladyboy’: Humiliating moment British tourists are forced to apologise for ‘brawl with tuk-tuk driver who couldn’t find them a ladyboy’ in Cambodia.
The pair were riding around in the local’s rickshaw for several hours while trying to find a transsexual prostitute in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
But the taxi driver said the pair became aggressive when their search was unsuccessful.
A tall blonde tourist was filmed making a grovelling apology to the driver while police in green uniforms calmed the situation.
In a white vest believed to have been torn in the earlier scuffle, the man searches through his wallet looking for money to compensate the cabbie.
He says: ”I just wanted to see a ladyboy, that’s all, I’m sorry.”
With the tuk-tuk driver in a blue top standing with other drivers, the British holidaymaker hands him several notes while holding open his wallet.
He says: ”I promise you, it’s nothing. You check, you check, I promise, I promise, it’s all I have.’
The pair eventually shake hands and make up, with the taxi driver pocketing a total of 80USD – around half his monthly salary.
He tells the tourist: ”Listen no boxing. You know Cambodia, you like Cambodia, you walk and came around Cambodia. Ok, no boxing in Cambodia.”
Police resolved the situation amicably and the names of both the tourists were not recorded, with the matter considered settled after compensation was paid to the driver.
He said afterwards: ”I was driving them around since 3pm. A long time. A tour around the city of Phnom Penh.
”The two foreigners wanted a ladyboy girl and we were driving around until 1.30am in the morning. I could not find one for them.
”The men attacked me and injured me. The police came and they gave me 80 dollars.”
The incident occurred on February 21.
