Sorry to break it to you, but you’re doing everyone a massive favour if you keep your holiday snaps off Facebook this summer.
That means no pre-night out selfies, no pictures of cocktails and definitely no sappy posts referring to your travel companion as ‘this one’.
Sure, your mum will want to see them and you can happily show your best mate, but it will annoy most of your Facebook friends.
In fact, 73% of people said they get wound up when they see other people’s holiday snaps online, according to Aviva, who carried out the research.
And according to the study, the most unpopular pose of all is snapping a picture of your legs on the beach and asking ‘hot dogs or legs?’
It may annoy three quarters of their Facebook friends, but the research found that 77% of people post holiday updates on social media.
Of those, one in five do it to show off about where they are, and one in ten post to make others at home jealous. Standard.
Adam Beckett, propositions director at Aviva, said: ‘A holiday is, for many, a time to switch-off and have a rest but it would seem that taking a break doesn’t apply to social media.
‘Long gone are the days when the first time holidaymakers would see their snaps was in the chemist after they got home.
‘Now, we’re sharing our holiday memories as soon as they happen, and with a much wider circle of friends and family.’ – Metro
