Brit model and pals tied up and robbed of £80,000 of valuables by machete-wielding thugs at South Africa resort.
Sarah MacDonnell was in a Cape Town for a yoga wear shoot when she fell victim to the violent gang.
The 39-year-old told the Daily Mail she did not expect to survive the ordeal, which began when the robbers jumped her boyfriend David while he had a cigarette outside the luxury villa.
He was grabbed by three balaclava wearing thugs who threatened him with a machete and screwdriver before forcing him inside.
Ms MacDonnell said: “I was on the loo and one of these guys suddenly appeared right next to me and put a screwdriver against my throat, then hauled me on to the floor.
“David was brought into the bathroom by the other two men and his hands were tied up with an iPhone cord. It was petrifying.”
The gang reportedly demanded to know where they could find the group of six’s valuables.
Five of the group were tied up while one, who was in bed wearing ear plugs, slept through the terrifying ordeal.
Ms McDonnell said she feared for her life as the gang argued about whether to leave.
After one robber removed his balaclava to show his face, she said she thought they planned to murder the group.
“That’s when it got really scary because you think you’re going to get murdered – or worse.
“I really felt I wasn’t going to make it, but I felt so protective of everyone. I was thinking, if they start using the knives or slash someone’s throat, what could I pick up, what could I do?”
All were working on a shoot for yoga company Manuka Life, of which Ms MacDonnell is creative director.
Eventually the armed gang left and a girl who had hidden a phone under a blanket managed to contact cops.
The thieves made off with cash, cameras, laptops and phones.
Ms McDonnell revealed that the gang had entered the The Maison Noir villa after cutting a hole in security fencing.
