Five people have been arrested in connection with the alleged sex trafficking of teenage girls in Nakhon Ratchasima.

Of the five, three are state officials — a tambon administration organisation chairman, an assistant district officer and a kamnan.

The two others are an employee at a resort in Pak Chong district; and a male receptionist at V2 Entertainment, a massage parlour in Bangkok’s Wang Thonglang district.

The massage parlour was raided by the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division (ATPD) on Tuesday.

The names of the three officials were withheld, while the two other suspects were identified only as Nai and Bew.

ATPD chief Kornchai Klayklueng said yesterday the three officials have been charged with gang-raping a teenage girl under the age of 18. The kamnan also faces a child abduction charge.

The underage girl was allegedly procured by Thipaporn Maneenoi and raped at a hotel in Pak Chong district.

Meanwhile, Mr Nai, the Nakhon Ratchasima resort employee, was charged with rape while Mr Bew, the massage parlour receptionist, was charged with rape and conspiring to commit sex trafficking.

All five suspects denied the charges, Pol Maj Gen Kornchai said.

The ATPD chief said Ms Thipaporn had contacted police, saying she would turn herself in to investigators soon.

The woman is believed to have procured underage girls for the sex trade in Nakhon Ratchasima and Bangkok.

She would be charged with conspiring to commit sex trafficking and procuring prostitutes for others, Pol Maj Gen Kornchai added.

The arrests came after parents of a 14-year-old girl contacted the Pavena Foundation last month, calling on the organisation to find and help their daughter who ran away from home.

They believed their daughter was recruited by a sex ring run by Ms Thipaporn who goes by the name Amara Bee on Facebook.

The ATPD later mounted a sting operation at a hotel in Nakhon Ratchasima and managed to rescue the daughter and three other girls.

Two 15-year-old girls were also detained for allegedly helping to run a prostitution racket.

Police later expanded the probe and found underage girls were procured for V2 Entertainment where police also found an 18-year-old prostitute who turned out to be Ms Thipaporn’s daughter.

She told police that many underage girls also worked there. – Bangkok Post
