A heavy downpour on Monday afternoon flooded multiple downtown Hanoi streets, placing stress on rush hour traffic.
Nguyen Khuyen and Ton Duc Thanh Streets, near the iconic Temple of Literature in Dong Da District, were heavily flooded after a rainstorm.
Other streets such as Thuy Khe and Doi Can also suffered from the same issue.
In some areas, the water level rose as high as 40-50 centimeters, causing motorbikes and cars to break down as water entered the vehicles’ exhaust pipes.
Traffic congestion during the city’s rush hour was heightened as a result.
Below are photos and footage captured by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper’s reporters of the flooding in Hanoi on Monday.
