Laurie Phan, an aspiring model who once competed in the ATV Miss Asia Toronto beauty pageant, has been charged with first-degree murder.

Phan turned herself in to York Regional Police on Monday, the same day that police issued a Canada-wide warrant for her arrest.

The 22-year-old, of no fixed address, is one of two people charged in the killing of Noel Williams, 27, of Markham, who was shot inside a Markham home on Feb. 10. Police were called to the scene at about 1:05 a.m.

Williams, who was found by officers suffering from gunshot wounds, was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

In her profile on the modelling networking site Model Mayhem, Phan says she wanted to begin a modelling career after competing in ATV Miss Asia Toronto.

“I don’t have much experience but I’m a very motivated and determined person,” the profile reads.

The profile says Phan studied nursing, but it hasn’t been updated since July 2016.

Jasper Atienza, 28, of Richmond Hill, was charged on April 19 with first-degree murder in the killing.

York Police said the investigation is continuing. -CBC.CA
