London Bridge terror attack, five arrested

Five people have been arrested at a block of flats in the east London borough of Barking, according to witnesses..

Sources quoted by Sky News say the house was home to one of the attackers shot dead by police last night.

Witnesses said several people were pictured in handcuffs lying on the ground after a raid by officers around 7am this morning.

It is also claimed that several women wearing Islamic dress were seen speaking to officers.

A picture has emerged on Twitter apparently showing suspects lying on the ground after the raid, which can be seen below.

The raid took place hours after a van ploughed into pedestrians on London Bridge, in an incident which left seven people dead. It is currently unclear whether the raid was linked to last night’s events.

Local resident Tara Milan told The Telegraph four men were detained in the flats but one man tried to escape armed police.

She said: “I saw them bringing them out of the flat opposite, around 7 am.

One man tried to flee and they shot him outside my house. They put him in an ambulance and then the others in a police van.”
