Tiger Woods was arrested for driving under the influence early Monday morning near his home in Jupiter, Fla., according to a report by WPTV.
Records from the Palm Beach County Jail confirm Woods was released from custody at 10:50 a.m. on Monday. The records show he was booked at 7:18 a.m.
According to USA Today, police arrested Woods at about 3 a.m. during a traffic stop off Military Trail, just south of Indian Creek Parkway.
The newspaper spoke to Jupiter police spokesperson Kristin Rightler, who said that she didn’t know where Woods was coming from or where he was headed.
The mugshot taken following the arrest was released by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Neither Woods’s representatives nor the Jupiter Police Department have returned calls from GOLF.com, and PGA Tour spokesperson Ty Votaw declined to comment when asked if the Tour would release a statement and/or discipline Woods. Stay tuned for more updates.
UPDATE: Woods released a statement on Monday night saying that alcohol was not a factor in his DUI.
“I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved,” the statement read. “What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn’t realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly.”
Woods said that he takes full responsibility for his actions and apologized to family, friends and fans. “I will do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again,” he said.
“I fully cooperated with law enforcement.”
