Pattaya was a tourist ghost town as storm rolled through the resort

The popular beach resort of Pattaya was virtually deserted on Wednesday as a strong storm hit the embattled town.

Pattaya. whose reputation has been dragged through the slurry recently with world-wide media criticism of it’s crime, prostitution and police corruption is already suffering a sharp drop in tourist numbers.

And storms like the one on Wednesday serve only to keep the few people who have visited the town indoors and out of the weather.

Bars, beaches, markets and restaurants were empty all over town for the entire day.

The harbor master set his red flags at half-mast meaning all craft had to stay in the port for safety reasons, a rare consideration in Pattaya.

Caused by a low pressure sector over Myanmar the storm ran all the way from Kanchanduri, throiugh Bangkok and Pattaya and down onto Trat at the Cambodian border.
