Arrest warrants are being sought for three more policemen in Mae Hong Son after the arrest of one of them in connection with alleged procurement of girl prostitutes in the northern province.

Deputy national police chief Pol Gen Srivara Ransibrahmanakul said on Tuesday three more policemen: a deputy superintendent, a deputy inspector and a non-commissioned officer would likely be arrested.

Detectives have not concluded their charges as they have yet to find out whether, in addition to being part of the ring, they had sex with the girls, he said.

Human trafficking and procurement of young prostitutes for senior officials existed and wrongdoers would have to face legal action, he said.

Three people have been arrested in this case. One of them was Pol Snr Sgt Maj Yutthachai Thongchart of Mae Hong Son’s Nam Phieng Din station.

Already dismissed from police service, he was brought to Bangkok on Tuesday, along with two other women suspected of being the procurers — PIyawan Sukma and Piyatas Thiansuwan.

Besides, Pol Gen Srivara said the senior officers of Mae Hong Son police and the Nam Phieng Din station would be interrogated as an earlier complaint about the prostitution ring that allegedly involved procurers and clients in the government sector had allegedly been shelved.

The 43-year-old mother, identified only as Namphet, of an alleged girl prostitute, said the minors controlled by the procurers’ group, including her daughter, had owl tattoos on their chests and clients included senior government officials.

The gang allegedly lured girls and got them addicted on drugs before forcing them to sell sex.
