Minivan driver falls asleep at the wheel and hits lamp post

Incredibly there are no serious injuries.

Six people have been injured, none thought to be seriously, after a minivan driver fell asleep at the wheel and smashed into a lamp post in Trang.

The minivan then careered into a water filled ditch, with the post still embedded into the front end.

The driver, 52-year-old Samphan Ninduangkaew, who is the most seriously injured, admitted falling asleep at the wheel after being ‘up all night.’

The ten passengers, who are all friends and family members of the driver, were on their way from Hua Hin to Koh Lipe when the accident happened.

Five of those received minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

The crash happened on the Trang – Palian road in Tha Phaya sub-district Friday morning.
