The Korat land transport department has appealed to the North eastern truck drivers’ association to request their members not to use roads throughout the Songkran period from the 11th to 17th of April.
The association has agreed to not run trucks on three major roads namely the Friendship Highway (Mitraphap), Route 304 Kabinburi to Nakorn Ratchasima and Route 24 Si Kiw to Ubon Ratchathani, reported Thai Rath.
Officials hope the move will ease traffic chaos and help to save lives by lowing the chance of road accidents.
The association has 900 members running a total of 10,000 trucks.
