Bangkok – Songkran festival kicks off on Sukhumvit road this evening

The Tourism Authority of Thailand and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will kick off Songkran festival celebration “Splendours: Amazing Songkran 2017” today at Benjasiri park in commercial district of Bangkok.

The event will feature an amazing Songkran joyful procession from 17.30 to 20.30 pm.

According to TAT, the procession will head down Sukhumvit road, starting from the Phrom Phong electric train station and will finish at Pathum Wan Intersection.

Traffic on Sukhumvit road will be closed during the procession.

The procession will enable spectators to learn how Songkran celebration has changed over the years.

It also features floral tributes, mythical creatures and dancers and eco-friendly displays.

Finishing on 13 April, Songkran Splendours: Amazing Songkran 2017 will inspire people to travel upcountry and discover their own Songkran stories in different parts of the kingdom.
