A Kantang-Bangkok train runs over a man who was lying across a rail track in Hua Hin, killing him instantly early on Sunday, police said.
Pol Lt Samit Phetpradit, a Hua Hin police investigator, said the incident occurred at 1.15am near a railway crossing near Soi Hua Hin 108 in the Hua Hin Municipality.
Viroj Prajit, the train driver, said while the train was approaching Hua Hin railway station and passing Soi Hua Hin 102 he saw a man, wearing only a pair of shorts, lying across the rail track.
Mr Viroj said he blew the whistle and tried to stop the train but was not successful. The man did not respond but remained lying still. The train ran over the man, cutting his body into pieces. His legs, arms, head and other parts of his body were scattered along the rail track.
Police were gathering evidence to establish whether the man, who was not yet identified, had committed a suicide.
