Fears are growing for Shane Evans, who is missing in Thailand after sending his mum a text saying ‘I’m sorry’.
Wendy Evans, from Linden, said she hasn’t been able to contact 28-year-old Shane, who lives in Cinderford, since receiving the message on Tuesday.
Shane, born in Gloucester, has been travelling around New Zealand since October but after splitting up with his girlfriend apparently headed for Thailand without telling anyone.
The first Wendy knew he was there was when police traced his phone.
Police here in Gloucestershire have issued an urgent missing persons appeal and want anyone who may have heard from Shane to get in touch.
Wendy said: “In the early hours of Tuesday I got a message from him saying he was sorry.
“I didn’t even know he was in Thailand. He had been travelling in New Zealand with his girlfriend but they broke up out there.
“She is devastated, no one knows what to do.”
Anyone who has been in contact with Shane since Tuesday or with any knowledge about his disappearance is urged to call police on 101 and quote incident 473 of 7 March.
Shane grew up in the Forest of Dean and went to Dene Magna School.
Gloucestershire police are currently liaising with Interpol about Shane’s disappearance.
